Staff Software Engineer, IPTV - Irvine, CA

Position Description

Their Digital Media Solutions Lab conducts advanced research in cutting-edge technology, as well as advanced core technologies that leads the world's IT industry. This is an organization that continuously pushing the limits of what’s possible within advanced algorithms, core platforms and user experience for Digital TV and set-top Box development. They are currently seeking a talented Staff Software Engineer to join their group in Irvine, California.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop world-class software and application solutions for the digital-TV, IPTV and casual video gaming industries
  • Contribute to the organization’s strong drive to be on the cutting edge of technology through the generation of patentable ideas
  • Hands-on technical lead with potential and desire to grow and manage teams
  • Create system and software requirements, architecture and design for implementation in current and future product lines
  • Work with customers and internal partners to explore product requirements and resolve challenging issues
  • Effectively communicate ideas, objectives and plans both internally and outside the organization

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science/Engineering; MS or PhD preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years’ related experience in CE industry specializing in one of digital A/V, interactive TV or casual gaming
  • Prior experience in working with a highly diverse team and mentoring junior engineers
  • Expertise in C++,C, Networking, multithreaded programming
  • Solid understanding of system and software development processes, including project estimation, architecture, design, code, test, and documentation
  • Ability to multi-task effectively under considerable pressure of deadlines and easily adapt within a fast-paced, start-up like environment
  • Be able to quickly learn/adapt using diverse tools and technologies
  • Preferred:
  • Working knowledge in digital TV standards such as IPTV, MPEG and ATSC
  • Experience in developing software on both client (embedded-level) and server (enterprise-level); C#, .Net, Java
  • Web services, HTML/Java Script, AJAX, XML; Flash programming; Real time programming
  • Android, WinMo, iPhone and other App and Game development platforms
