Modem Systems Engineer-San Diego, CA

Position Description

Our client is looking for a strong Modem Systems Engineer for their San Diego based Mobile Solutions Lab. The successful candidate will work as part of a team on the systems design, implementation and verification of modem products for GSM/GPRS/EDGE/WCDMA/HSPA/LTE and other advanced wireless technologies. The Modem Systems Engineer will work in a world-class research group and play a key role in driving research vision, as well as deliver tangible and high impact results to the Company’s product divisions.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Understand wireless 3GPP standards
• Develop signal process algorithms for WCDMA or OFDM signals
• Conduct C/C++ and Matlab simulations to study systems performance under various multipath-fading channel propagation conditions
• Implement and verify advanced signal processing
• Verify product performance using commercial test equipment and field testing
• Model and simulate digital communications links

Qualifications

• MS with 5+ years of relevant industry experience, Ph.D. preferred
• Expertise in computer simulation and modeling, information theory, probability and random processes
• Must possess good analytical, problem solving and communication skills
• Knowledge and understanding of GSM/WCDMA/HSPA/LTE standards
