Position Description
As a Technical Sales Specialist for the Northeast you will be responsible for identifying and developing new customer opportunities in a region with high revenue potential. You will also be responsible for market activities in the territory as well as establishing and maintaining relationships with key people in customer organizations. The Regional Sales Engineer is expected to demonstrate product features and functionalities to prospective and existing customers and must be able to translate a technical value proposition into business value. The person will be measured on the number and quality of new accounts and not necessarily on volume of business. This is a unique opportunity to build your own territory.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of driving revenue growth, new customer acquisition, and product adoption within your region.
- This is a largely untapped geographic market for the Company and the main focus will be building and managing a diverse portfolio of business which includes consistently researching, identifying and qualifying new target customers.
- Make multiple quality sales calls to pre-qualified customers per week resulting in on-site sales meetings and the opportunity to close new business.
- Take responsibility for managing the entire sales cycle from prospecting and product education through negotiations to final order confirmation.
- Participate in sales and product trainings both domestically and internationally. The Company invests significant resources to make sure the SEs can educate existing and prospective customers on product features and act as effective technology consultants.
- Collaborate and maintain excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as technical support and sales management.
- Provide timely reporting of sales and activity reports to Company management.
Qualifications
- 2-5+ years of outside sales or inside sales experience preferably within the areas of electronics, industrial automation, instrumentation, process control, or B2B hi-tech products and solutions.
- A good understanding of and keen interest in technology and electronic components.
- Experience with cold calling for new business is required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer proficient and experience with Windows based applications and CRM systems preferred
- This person should be a goal oriented, self-starter who utilizes a methodical approach to achieve successful results.
- Four-year college degree is preferred.
- Travel to customer sites in assigned territory is required
